How much deposit can a landlord charge in BC?
A security deposit can be no more than half of one month's rent. If pets are allowed, the landlord can also collect a pet damage deposit of up to another half month's rent — but the two together can't exceed one month's rent.

Landlords can't charge extra cleaning, key, or administration deposits. Any deposit must be returned within 15 days of the tenancy ending and your giving a forwarding address, or the landlord may owe you double.
