Can my landlord charge a late fee for rent in Ontario?
No. Ontario landlords cannot charge late fees, interest, or penalties for rent paid late. A lease clause imposing a late fee is not enforceable under the Residential Tenancies Act.

Persistent late payment can be a ground for the landlord to apply to end the tenancy (Form N8), but they still can't add monetary late-payment penalties. If you've been charged one, you can dispute it.
