Can my landlord charge me for repairs in Ontario?
Only for damage you (or your guests) caused deliberately or through negligence — not for normal wear and tear or for the landlord's own maintenance obligations. Routine repairs and upkeep are the landlord's responsibility and can't be billed to you.

If a landlord claims you owe for damage, they must be able to prove it. Faded paint, worn carpet, and minor marks are normal wear and tear, which you can never be charged for.
