Is there rent control in Alberta?
No. Alberta has no rent control, so there's no percentage cap on how much a landlord can raise the rent. However, rent can only be increased once every 12 months, never during the first year of a tenancy, and only with proper written notice.

Because there's no cap, a fixed-term lease (which locks your rent for the whole term) can be valuable protection in a rising market.
