How much notice do I give to end my lease in Quebec?
Quebec leases renew automatically, so you must give written notice not to renew: for a lease of 12 months or more, between three and six months before it ends; for a shorter fixed term, one to two months; for a month-to-month lease, one to two months.

You generally can't break a fixed-term lease early just by giving notice. Your main options are to assign (cession de bail) or sublet, or to use one of the Civil Code's specific early-termination grounds (subsidized housing, a seniors'/care residence, or a threat to your safety).
