What is the security deposit limit in Georgia?
As of July 1, 2024, the Safe at Home Act (HB 404) caps Georgia security deposits at two months' rent — the state's first deposit limit. The deposit must be returned within 30 days of move-out with an itemized written statement of any deductions.

Before HB 404, Georgia had no statutory cap. The same law also added a duty of habitability, requiring landlords to keep units fit to live in.
