Can my landlord enter without notice in California?
No. Under California Civil Code § 1954, a landlord must give at least 24 hours' written notice before entering for repairs, inspections, or showings, and must enter during normal business hours. No notice is required for a genuine emergency or if you consent at the time.

The notice must state the reason and a reasonable date and time. Repeated entry without proper notice can breach your right to quiet enjoyment — keep a log.
