How much notice does a landlord have to give to enter in Canada?

In every Canadian province the standard is 24 hours' written notice, stating the reason and the time of entry, and entry is only allowed during set daytime hours. The two exceptions are a genuine emergency and your own consent at the time.

The permitted-hours window varies: 8 a.m.–8 p.m. in Ontario, 8 a.m.–9 p.m. in BC, 9 a.m.–9 p.m. in Nova Scotia, and 7 a.m.–7 p.m. in Quebec, for example.

A routine repair or inspection that simply wasn't scheduled is not an 'emergency.' Repeatedly claiming an emergency to skip notice can amount to harassment.
