Eviction
Can my landlord evict me to move in a family member?
Yes — in every province a landlord can end a tenancy for their own use or a close family member's, but only in good faith, with the required written notice and (in most provinces) compensation. In Ontario that's an N12 with 60 days' notice and one month's rent; in BC it's 3 months' notice and one month's rent.

The person moving in must genuinely intend to live there — in Ontario and BC, for at least 12 months. If they never move in, or the unit is re-rented at a higher price soon after, that's bad faith.
For a bad-faith own-use eviction you can claim substantial compensation — a T5 application in Ontario, and up to 12 months' rent in BC. Keep evidence like new listings.
